for the first time in nearly 3 months gas prices have dipped a little. 6 cents in the last two weeks. nationwide the average for a gallon of unleaded is $3.74. according to gasbuddy.com the average in san francisco is $4.15 a gallon. oakland, $4.10, and san jose $4.11. lowest average in california is in sacramento at $4.02 a gallon. 6 teenagers are dead after their suv went into a swampy pond in northeast ohio this morning. a total of 8 teens were in the honda passport when it hit a guardrail, overturned and ended up in the swamp near the city of warren. five teens were trapped in the suv. a 6th was found underneath it. two of the passengers escaped and ran to a house for help. it is a tough loss for the working class town of 41,000. >> took most of this morning to meet with all of the family members, that i possibly could at both hospitals.

we are going to pull together and we are going to be there for them. >> the authorities say all of the teens were between the ages of 14 and 19. there is no word what caused the accident but investigators do not believe alcohol was involved. in an animal sanctuary opens to the public next week after a lion killed a 24-year- old intern. the privately run cat haven observed a moment of silent for diana hansen. she was attacked by the 550 pound male lion on wednesday. the animal was shot to death by a sheriff's deputy. the park is opening to visitors with the consent of hansen's parents to care for the other 29 wildcats. >> it is important for us to return back to normal operations here at the cat haven and diana would really want us to do that. >> hansen was cleaning the lion enclosure at the time of the attack. investigators believe the lion pushed open the door of a feeding cage and snuck up

in a move that could spread to other cities, new york city's pioneering ban on super size sugary soft drinks goes into effect this week. the measure for bids, restaurants and other food service establishments from selling drinks in sizes larger than 16 ounces. some businesses have complained but the state officials say the majority of comments have favored the ban. >> all we are doing in new york

some like the baseball classic and some don't know what it is. a game between the u.s. and canada to go to the next round beats cactus league game. they prepare for a slug fest in

phoenix and the u.s. getting on the board, first. saunders launches one over the fence off of ranger's starter, 2-0, canada. and, bats all around for the boys in the red. but, their buzz would wear off in the 4th inning. ben, green, pushing it it over. hops it in the air. scoring 2-1. it was 3-2 canada, 8th inning, runners on board. jones splits the gap. everybody is going to score on the 2-run double. the united states goes on to win 9-4 and they are headed to the next round in miami. last year at dural, tiger woods pulled out in the final round because of a problem, leaving people to question if he -- we had seen the last of tiger at his elite level. a year later, woods is almost back on top of the mountain. tiger appears to have regained that look of a champion. he was good on his short gain, second hole.

the names of at least two cardinals from the u.s. prominent in the mix. 115 cardinals will vote and today for them was a day of rest and prayer. at the vatican here's mark phillips. >> reporter: the bells that rang out across rome on what should be the last sunday before there is a new pope might have been the opening bells of round one of the papal election. around the city the cardinals whose names have been bandies about on speculative list of potential votes were on display. no campaigning here, of course, but everybody knows who they are and what they represent. in normal times cardinal angelo skola would be a hot favorite conservative steady and italian after two foreign popes. skola has the clout, it's thought, to bring the vatican establishment blamed for much of the church's scandal and financial troubles, into line. but the very fact the curia as it's called is basically an italian body
